The seaside town of Hua Hin, meaning “Stone Head”, was named after the rocks at the north end of the powdery sand beach. Hua Hin became Thailand's first beach resort after a train line was laid in the 1920’s to provide access from Bangkok and King Rama VII established his summer retreat in the area. With a 5 kilometer-long beach that features numerous activities, the laid back and hospitable town of Hua Hin continues to draw both tourists and Thais. In addition to beach fun and games, outstanding seafood restaurants, and a vibrant night market, Hua Hin is well known for having some of the finest golf courses in Thailand, as well as some of the most renowned resorts and destination spas in the world.
BEACH
The beach runs from a rocky headland and curves about three kilometers down south to Khao Takiap where the Giant Standing Buddha Sculpture is located. The beach itself stays tranquil while still sprung with fun activities like horse riding, kite boarding and water sports. Night markets are also open daily to serve every of your feast.
NIGHT MARKET
It has become a so-called travelling tradition for Hua Hin visitors to enjoy the sea and other outdoor activities by day and roam Hua Hin night market by night. The walking street of Hua Hin night market is closed entirely to traffic and becomes the focal point for vending stalls, particularly consumer goods and souvenirs. Therefore, when taking a stroll through the night market and shopping some small gifts, visitors can scent the tantalizing aroma of grilled seafood. Hua Hin night market is located where Decha Nuchit Road and the well-known Phet Kasem Road cross. Even though the foods sold here can be found elsewhere, but the distinguished flavors are second to none. The market is packed with nationally recognized restaurants, including Pad Thai, oyster omelet, stewed pork shank on rice, chicken on rice, fish maw soup, noodles, made-to-order menus and fresh seafood. Furthermore, there are a vast array of snacks and desserts, for example roti, grilled squid, fish balls, pork skewers, shave ice, assorted bean in syrup, ice cream, sticky rice and mango, mango and sweetened fish sauce, and other fresh fruits. The abundant varieties of food choice make it hard to decide which one you would try first. Additionally, clothes, accessories, cassette tapes, CDs, books and lovely souvenirs can be found. Despite the tremendous number, all shops and stalls are always crowded with Thai and foreign customers – waiting for food, eating, or shopping. At a quick glance this place may seem like an ordinary night market, but once you have been here, you just cannot help but visiting it again the next time you are in Hua Hin. The warmth and the unique characteristics of Hua Hin that fill this night market make no other place comparable. Every evening shopkeepers start setting up their stalls at around 6 and most of them are ready just before 7. At midnight when shops gradually close, it is yet likely to see crowds of people roaming Hua Hin.
